RootUtils Voice Reader is a free text to speech tool that reads text aloud using your device’s built-in voices (speech synthesis). Paste an article, script, notes, or a document and press Play — then switch to Reader Mode to follow along with sentence tracking and spoken-word highlighting.

Everything runs client-side in your browser. Your text is not uploaded by this page.

How to use this Text to Speech reader

  1. Paste your text (or upload a .txt file).
  2. Choose a voice and adjust speed, pitch, and volume.
  3. Press Play. In Reader Mode, click any sentence to jump and track the current spoken word.
  4. Use the pronunciation dictionary to fix tricky words and acronyms.

FAQ

Is this “AI text to speech”?

This tool uses your device’s installed system voices via browser speech synthesis. Voice quality varies by OS and browser.

Why don’t I see many voices?

Available voices come from your system. Try Chrome/Edge desktop and check your OS voice/language settings to install more voices.

Does it work offline?

Often yes — if your browser and installed voices work offline, the tool can still read locally since it doesn’t require a server.

Is my text uploaded?

No. The reader runs client-side and doesn’t send your text to a server.
