XML Sitemap Generator

The RootUtils Sitemap Generator helps you instantly create a valid sitemap.xml file for your website. Simply enter your pages, and we will format them with the correct XML syntax, priorities, and timestamps.

What is a Sitemap?

An XML Sitemap is a file that lists all the important pages on your website. It acts as a roadmap for search engines like Google and Bing, helping them discover and index your content faster.

Key Tags Explained

  • <loc>: The absolute URL of the page (e.g., https://example.com/about).
  • <lastmod>: The date the page was last modified (YYYY-MM-DD). This tells Google if the content is fresh.
  • <changefreq>: How often the page is likely to change (e.g., daily for news, monthly for articles).
  • <priority>: A value between 0.0 and 1.0 indicating how important the page is relative to others on your site. The homepage is usually 1.0.

How to submit your Sitemap?

  1. Download the file generated above and name it sitemap.xml.
  2. Upload it to the root folder of your website (so it is accessible at yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml).
  3. Log in to Google Search Console and submit the URL under the "Sitemaps" section.
